From little acorns grow mighty oaks. So true of the children of Christel House India. From the depths of poverty and impoverished neighbourhoods, our children have grown into bright, strapping individuals who have done us and their communities proud. Attending the Culver Schools & Camps, Indiana (reputed to be the strongest whole-person leadership camping program in the world), chosen to participate in the Adobe Youth Voices Summit at Stanford University, selected to attend the reputed TESA football camp run by the Transguard Group in Dubai, the children of Christel House India have won several accolades at the State, National and International level. For many children, opportunities like these are distant dreams. Our children are living these dreams and dare to dream higher.
Set up in 2001 in Bangalore, India and inspired by our Founder Christel DeHaan whose mission is to help children around the world break the cycle of poverty, realize their hopes and dreams, and become self-sufficient, contributing members of society, Christel House India has grown in stature and strength. We now have 933 children in Bangalore enrolled from Kindergarten to Grade XII and will soon see our first batch of students graduate from High School, ready to take on the world with confidence and poise. Our success has inspired the Hindustan Construction Company to set up Christel House Lavasa at their hill township near Pune, a first of its kind joint initiative in the Indian education industry. Christel House Lavasa will co-exist with leading national and international educational institutions at the Lavasa Education Hub, while catering to children of disadvantaged communities in the area, thus providing an enriching and stimulating environment for these children.
Our success would not have been possible without the help and commitment of several constituents - our staff whose dedicated commitment to a cause has made such a difference in the lives of our children, our partners who have developed and endorsed the programmes we run, our donors who have helped us establish amongst the best educational institutes in Bangalore and Lavasa, the parents and communities of our children who have recognized the value of our education and are wholeheartedly behind the children attending school and most of all our students who have brought so much of meaning into our lives and without whom we would not exist.
We have been in India for nearly a decade now, a journey of baby steps that has grown into two Christel House Learning Centers we are immensely proud of. Our joy and success is derived from our children and we look forward to partnering with them as they enter our portals and script the journey of their lives.
